Inlays and onlays, also called partial crowns, use the existing tooth as a base in which they fit onto. They are done to restore tooth shape, strengthen teeth, and prevent further damage from occurring. The difference between the two is that an inlay can be done only when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth, where as an onlay is used when the tooth has experienced more damage and cannot support an inlay.
At Norbo Dental, we can create inlays and onlays right here in our office using our state of the art mill equipment while you wait. When we are finished, your tooth will look and feel just like your natural teeth!
